HIFU

Lift. Firm. Define.

HIFU - High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound is a non-surgical treatment designed to target the deeper layers beneath the skin, helping to support a firmer, tighter and more defined appearance without injections or surgery.

Using focused ultrasound energy, HIFU creates controlled points of heat at specific depths within the tissue. This triggers the body's natural healing response and stimulates the production and remodelling of collagen over the weeks and months that follow.

Rather than adding volume or changing your features, HIFU is about working with the structure you already have.

The result is gradual.

Considered.

And completely your own.

What Can HIFU Treat?

HIFU can be used across the face and body, with treatment tailored to the area and individual concern.

Face & Neck

HIFU may be considered for:

  • Loss of firmness through the lower face

  • Jawline definition

  • Mild skin laxity

  • The appearance of jowling

  • Under the chin

  • Neck laxity

  • Overall facial tightening

  • Areas where the skin is beginning to feel less firm or supported

Body

HIFU can also be used on selected areas of the body where improved firmness and contour are desired.

Depending on your individual assessment, this may include areas such as:

  • Abdomen

  • Arms

  • Thighs

  • Areas of localised skin laxity

Not every area — or every client — will be suitable for HIFU, which is why your consultation comes first.

The Tyne Approach

It's not about pulling everything tighter.

When clients begin to notice changes around the jawline, lower face or neck, it's very easy to assume that filler is automatically the answer.

It isn't always.

Sometimes adding volume isn't what the face needs.

For the right client, HIFU gives us a completely different way of approaching facial ageing — supporting firmness and definition without adding volume to the face.

Before recommending treatment, I'll assess your facial structure, skin quality, degree of laxity and the changes you're hoping to make.

If HIFU isn't going to give you the result you're looking for, I'll tell you.

And if I believe another treatment — or a combination of treatments — would be more appropriate, we'll discuss that instead.

The treatment should fit your face. Your face shouldn't have to fit the treatment.

How Does HIFU Work?

HIFU delivers focused ultrasound energy beneath the surface of the skin at carefully selected depths.

This creates controlled thermal points within the targeted tissue while leaving the surface of the skin largely unaffected.

That controlled response encourages the natural processes involved in collagen production and remodelling.

And that's an important distinction.

HIFU isn't a treatment where you walk out with an artificially lifted face.

Your results develop progressively as your own tissue responds to treatment.

Think:

Less instant transformation. More gradual refinement.

What to Expect

Your Consultation

Every HIFU journey at Tyne Skin Clinic begins with a consultation.

We'll look at the area you're concerned about, assess your skin and tissue, discuss your medical history and establish what you would realistically like to achieve.

I'll then advise whether HIFU is appropriate and create a treatment plan around you, rather than simply treating an area because you've requested it.

During Treatment

The treatment area will be carefully mapped before ultrasound energy is delivered at the appropriate depths.

You may feel warmth, tingling or short pulses of intensity as the energy is delivered.

Some areas can feel more sensitive than others, particularly around bony areas of the face and jaw.

Your comfort will be monitored throughout.

Immediately Afterwards

One of the advantages of HIFU is that there is generally minimal downtime compared with surgical procedures.

Depending on your individual response and the area treated, you may experience temporary:

  • Redness

  • Tenderness

  • Mild swelling

  • Tingling or sensitivity

  • Tenderness when touching the treated area

We'll talk you through your aftercare and what is considered normal following treatment.

When Will I See Results?

This is a treatment that asks for patience.

Some clients may notice an initial feeling of firmness following treatment, but HIFU should really be viewed as a progressive treatment.

The more meaningful changes develop gradually as the body's collagen response takes place over the following weeks and months.

This is one of the reasons I like HIFU for the right client.

There isn't necessarily a dramatic overnight change.

Instead, you begin to notice the area looking firmer, more supported and more defined as the treatment response develops.

Results and longevity vary from person to person, and no specific degree of lifting or tightening can be guaranteed.

HIFU for the Face

Definition without adding volume.

HIFU can be particularly useful for clients who are beginning to notice changes through the lower face, jawline, under-chin area or neck, but don't necessarily want injectable treatment.

Rather than filling the face, we're focusing on the underlying support and firmness of the tissue.

For the right face, that can create a beautifully subtle result.

You should still look like you.

Just a little firmer, fresher and more defined.

HIFU for the Body

A more considered approach to contouring.

HIFU isn't limited to the face.

Selected areas of the body can also be treated where the goal is to improve the appearance of firmness, laxity and contour.

Body HIFU is not a weight-loss treatment and isn't designed as an alternative to healthy lifestyle habits or surgical procedures where significant skin laxity is present.

Instead, it's about identifying the areas where a non-surgical approach may make a worthwhile difference and treating them strategically.

We'll assess the area first and give you a realistic idea of what HIFU may — and may not — achieve.

Is HIFU Right for Me?

HIFU may be worth considering if you're noticing a degree of skin laxity or loss of definition and would prefer a non-surgical, non-injectable approach.

However, it isn't right for everyone.

The quality of the skin, degree of laxity, facial structure, treatment area, medical history and desired outcome all matter.

That's exactly why I don't believe in selling HIFU as a treatment that everybody needs.

Sometimes HIFU is the answer. Sometimes it isn't.

My job is to help you understand the difference.

Not Sure What You Need?

You don't need to arrive knowing whether you need HIFU, skin boosters, dermal filler or something completely different.

That's what your consultation is for.

Come in and tell me what you've started to notice, what you'd like to improve and — just as importantly — what you don't want.

From there, we'll create a considered treatment plan based on your anatomy, your skin and the result you want to achieve.

Refined results. Thoughtful treatment. Medical expertise.
