Where Medical Expertise Meets Natural Beauty
Tyne Skin Clinic
PRP Therapy
Regenerative treatment, powered by you.
PRP Platelet-Rich Plasma is a regenerative treatment that uses components taken from your own blood to support natural processes involved in skin and tissue repair.
You may have heard it called the “Vampire Facial”, but behind the slightly dramatic name is a treatment that's actually all about working with your own biology.
A small sample of blood is taken and placed into a specialist centrifuge, which separates the platelet-rich plasma from the other components of the blood.
This concentrated plasma is then carefully reintroduced into the areas we're looking to treat.
No filler. No added volume.
Just a completely different approach to rejuvenation.
What Can PRP Be Used For?
PRP is incredibly versatile and may be considered as part of a treatment plan for:
Fine lines and visible signs of ageing
Dull or tired-looking skin
Skin texture and overall skin quality
The face, neck and décolletage
Hands
Selected under-eye concerns
Scarring
Stretch marks
Hair and scalp concerns
Your consultation is important because PRP isn't automatically the right treatment for every concern.
We'll look at what you're hoping to improve and decide whether PRP — or something else entirely — is likely to be the better option.
The Tyne Approach
Working with your skin, not changing your features.
One of the things I love about PRP is that it sits beautifully within my approach to aesthetics.
We're not changing the shape of your face.
We're not adding unnecessary volume.
Instead, we're using a concentrated component of your own blood as part of a regenerative approach to improving the appearance and quality of your skin.
PRP can be used as a standalone treatment or incorporated into a wider skin plan alongside other treatments where appropriate.
And because every client's starting point is different, I don't believe in automatically putting everyone through exactly the same programme.
We'll assess first. Then we'll create the plan.
The Vampire Facial
A little less scary than it sounds.
The “Vampire Facial” combines PRP with a skin rejuvenation approach to target overall skin quality, texture and visible signs of ageing.
The treatment gets its nickname from the use of your own blood — but the reality is much more sophisticated than the name suggests.
Think regeneration rather than transformation.
For appropriate clients, a course of treatments may be recommended to build results progressively.
PRP for Hair Restoration
A regenerative approach to thinning hair.
PRP may also be used as part of a treatment programme for certain types of hair thinning and hair loss.
Platelets contain growth factors involved in tissue repair and cell signalling. In hair-focused PRP treatment, platelet-rich plasma is introduced into targeted areas of the scalp with the aim of supporting the environment around existing hair follicles.
Hair loss can have many different causes, so assessment matters.
PRP isn't suitable for every type of hair loss and it can't create new follicles where follicles are no longer viable. Where appropriate, Kate may recommend further medical investigation before beginning treatment.
A course of sessions is commonly recommended, with maintenance determined by your individual response and ongoing needs.
What to Expect
Your Consultation
Before treatment, we'll discuss your concerns, medical history and what you're hoping to achieve.
For hair restoration, we'll also consider your pattern of hair loss and whether PRP is an appropriate option for you.
During Treatment
A small sample of blood is taken, much like having a routine blood test.
It's then processed in a specialist centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma required for your treatment.
The prepared PRP is then carefully introduced into the selected treatment area using an appropriate technique.
Immediately Afterwards
Depending on the area treated, you may experience temporary:
Redness
Tenderness
Swelling
Bruising
Sensitivity at the injection sites
For scalp treatments, the area may also feel tender following your appointment.
You'll receive full aftercare advice before leaving the clinic.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
PRP is usually approached as a course rather than a one-off quick fix.
Your recommended number of treatments and spacing will depend on the area being treated, your starting point and how you respond.
We'll review your progress and advise whether ongoing maintenance would be beneficial rather than simply treating indefinitely.
When Will I See Results?
PRP is not an instant-result treatment.
This is regenerative aesthetics, so improvements are expected to develop gradually rather than overnight.
Skin and hair also behave very differently, so your expected timeline will be discussed according to what we're treating.

Your own biology. A more natural approach to regeneration.
For clients who want to invest in skin quality, regeneration or appropriate hair-restoration support without changing their natural features, PRP can be a beautiful addition to a considered treatment plan.
